It is extremely important to understand the difference between a Velorex UK and an older Velorex. The original Velorex was designed to be fitted to a Jawa Motorcycle and it looks similar to a new Velorex UK. However the older Velorex has a much weaker chassis and suspension. Take a look at the chassis shown on the CHASSIS page, if the secondhand sidecar you wish to buy has this chassis and the axle for the wheel is 20 mm it is a Velorex UK and can safely be fitted to most motorcycles with a steel tubular frame. However if the secondhand sidecar has a 15mm axle and no additional chassis strengthening it should not be fitted to any bike over 160 kg or 28 bhp.

We offer a partial conversion kit consisting of a new swing arm, suspension unit, wheel back plate and all bearings, bushes etc needed to convert an older Velorex to a 20 mm axle.

We never advise using secondhand fittings or clamps. All of our fittings and clamps can be used with older Velorex models.


20 MM AXLE CONVERSION
Complete kit of parts for use on older Velorex sidecars to bring the suspension and wheel axle up to the same standard as a new Velorex UK sidecar. . Please note due to the variation in older Velorex sidecars this kit may move your wheel out by about 6 mm so you may need to alter the original mudguard mounts. This only applies to certain models built in certain years.

This should be done as well as the 20mm axle conversion.

For your own safety please do not use an unmodified used Velorex sidecar on a heavy or powerful bike before talking to us.
